Services
Bayview Edison provides an array of tailored services to support customer requirements from conceptual project development through manufacturing to deliver its customer – Pure Value.
Pure Value
Quotation Process
Bayview Edison developed a proprietary quotation process to create Pure Value projects for our customers. Pure Value is a corporate cultural statement that requires the Bayview Edison team to challenge itself to create the best possible outcome for each and every customer on each and every project, no matter how big or how small. If a project is composite, Bayview Edison can likely do it, but we learned over time that to deliver Pure Value demands a fit between the project requirements and Bayview Edison’s skill set. The first step in the Pure Value process is to determine if Bayview Edison is the best option for the customer. If not, the customer is advised. If Bayview Edison decides to quote, it triggers its carefully designed, multi-discipline evaluation of the customer requirement to tailor the best solution and challenge itself to minimize the project cost in order to deliver the customer project 100% on specification, 100% on time and 100% on expectation – Pure Value.
Conceptual
Design
Bayview Edison can take customer supplied sketches on a napkin (a wide range of digital file formats are accepted as well) and turn them into an actionable 3D computer model capable of delivering the customer’s intended functionality. Bayview Edison’s team is constantly mindful of the overall mission of delivering Pure Value when conceiving design solutions.
Confidentiality
Bayview Edison regards its customer’s data as proprietary, even without a Non-disclosure Agreement. When customers desire their projects be “out of sight”, appropriate and effective measures are implemented.
Structural
Analysis
Bayview Edison’s engineering team is capable of detailed structural analysis and has available to them the computer technology to execute a range of solutions. Weight is often the essential driver for an engineering solution. Minimizing weight while preserving necessary structural integrity requires detailed analysis of laminate sequence, material orientation and material selection. Bayview Edison’s composite engineers have the means and experience to determine the correct composite structure.
Pattern and Tool
Design
Bayview Edison routinely optimizes all pattern and tool design during its Pure Value project quotation process to ensure the best possible outcome for each customer. Experience, training and computer tools, including Siemens NX 6 CAD, CAM and CAE software and Vericut tool path software delivers dimensional precision while minimizing cost.
Mold Making
Bayview Edison produces short run “soft” and long run “hard” production molds to meet customer requirements.
Short run molds can be made directly on the appropriate 5-axis CNC controlled milling machine. Larger projects are done on the CMS Poseidon and smaller project on the Ares.
Long run “hard” molds are made from patterns primarily using vacuum resin infusion of the matrix and fabrics. Bayview Edison molds are made from polyester, vinyl ester or epoxy resins as required. Surface finishes vary to achieve the best outcome.
Bayvew Edison has made single piece molds over 140 feet in length, while achieving tight tolerances.
Mold reinforcement and handling features can be wood, steel or composite.
Fabrication and
Manufacturing
Bayview Edison has fabricated a wide variety of projects. The most complex of our fabrication projects is our line of Northwest Trawler Yachts www.nwtrawlers.com.
Yacht building provides Bayview Edison with a highly skilled, multi-disciplined team.
Bayview Edison also performs high volume repetitive manufacturing.
